Thursday afternoon fire damages residence on Ivine Avenue

Bemidji firefighters were called to a house fire at about 2:30 p.m. Thursday on the 900 block of Irvine Avenue Northwest. Responding firefighters found smoke coming from the attic vents of the two-story residence. They quickly contained the fire to the attic area above the kitchen. Seventeen firefighters used two fire engines and a ladder truck on scene. No one was injured. The fire caused about $12,000 worth of damage. The cause is under investigation but foul play is not suspected. Assisting at the scene were the Bemidji Police Department and Bemidji Ambulance Service.
