Three injured in Wednesday night accident in Akeley

A two-vehicle accident that occurred just before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on state Highway 34 in Akeley injured three women.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol out of Brainerd:

A 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix was headed east in the westbound lane of traffic on Highway 34 on the east edge of Akeley when the vehicle collided head-on with a 2000 Plymouth Voyager van.

The driver of the Grand Prix, Brenda Olson, 42, of Park Rapids, was not wearing a seat belt and was taken to St. Mary's Regional Health Center in Detroit Lakes with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Voyager, Betty Dunker, 60, of Park Rapids, was wearing her seat belt and was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis with fractured ankles and an injured knee.

A passenger in the Voyager, Lori Eischens, 28, of Park Rapids, was wearing her seat belt and suffered a broken arm. She was treated and released at St. Joseph's Hospital in Park Rapids.

Both vehicles were totaled.
