Three injured as car goes airborne in Beltrami County
Bemidji Minnesota P.O. Box 455 56619

Three people were injured in a three-vehicle accident about 5:50 p.m. Monday at the intersection of state Highway 89 and Scribner Road Northwest.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol out of Thief River Falls:

A 1999 Dodge Durango was headed north on Highway 89 when it turned left toward westbound Scribner Road. The Durango turned in front of a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica that was headed south on Highway 89.

After the two vehicles collided, the Durango went airborne and struck in the front a 1984 semi-truck that was stopped at Scribner Road as it was waiting to turn southbound onto Highway 89. The Durango came to rest between the Pacifica and the semi.

The driver of the Durango was Jamie J. Melander, 26, of Shevlin, who suffered minor scrapes. He was not taken to a hospital.

Robert J. Trepanier, 29, of Bemidji, the driver of the Pacifica, was treated and released at North Country Regional Hospital for non-serious injuries.

A passenger in Trepanier's vehicle, Robyn R. Trepanier, 48, of Bemidji, also was treated and released at NCRH for non-serious injuries.

The driver of the semi, Charles A. Bahr, 48, of Bemidji, was not injured.

All four individuals were wearing their seat belts. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.

The Durango and Pacifica were both totaled in the accident. The semi sustained minor damage.
