Those who sin will face God’s judgment
I have read with interest the letters to the editor and the news stories concerning the debate concerning same-sex-marriage. Of special interest to me was the letter from Marjorie Andersen (Aug. 8). I am also surprised at the statements that many people do not know that there are New Testament scriptures which speak to this issue – Romans 1:26-26, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, and in 1 Timothy 1:8-11.
It is evident that Marjorie has no respect for holy scripture or for its message. It is clear that we are all sinners, and need to repent of our sins. To ignore God’s disdain for homosexuality is a mistake. If we approve of same-sex-marriage it would be no different than approving of murder, theft, etc.
In his letter to the Romans, Paul clearly condemns homosexuality as a corruption of God’s created order. He argues that homosexuality results from a corrupt understanding of creation. It is a perversion of God’s created order, as are a multitude of sins, all of which need to be confessed. I need forgiveness as much as any person. Homosexuality is no more damning than gossip, greed or jealousy. Those who commit such sins will face God’s judgment unless they repent.
What concerned me most about Marjorie’s letter was the disrespect you shoved Father Don Braukmann, other clergy, God’s Word and Jesus. We should be able to have a difference of opinion without being disrespectful.
My thanks to Father Braukmann for his letter, to which I give a hearty Amen.
