Bri Thorson served eight straight points to help the Bemidji volleyball team recover from a 24-18 deficit in the third game and post a 25-20, 25-18, 26-24 victory Friday at Detroit Lakes.
"We had some ups and downs in the match but the girls were intense, especially when we trailed in the third game," said BHS coach Theresa Colligan whose team improved to 2-0.
"It was good to see us come back from such a deficit."
Jenna Sagedahl finished with 26 set assists while Allie Heifort contributed three blocks.
Jess Yost delivered 12 kills, Kellie Morehouse had eight and Blake Bardwell seven.
Yost also had two aces and 14 digs.
Sagedahl finished with nine digs, Nicole McDonald eight and Jasmine Yerbich and Hanna Olson five.
Bemidji returns to action Tuesday when it visits Deer River. Its road trip continues next weekend at the Marshall Invitational. The next home game is Sept. 13 against Brainerd.
