Thora Josefson, 94, of Debs, MN died Monday, 18 February 2013, at Neilson Place, Bemidji.
Funeral services will be 2:00 on Friday, 22 February, 2013 are the Trinity Lutheran Church in Debs, MN, with Pastor Jay Borchert officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Interment will be Trinity Lutheran Church cemetery.
Thora Emily Lomen Josefson was born January 5, 1919 in Solway, Minnesota to Tosten and Anna (Solberg) Lomen. She attended Solway and graduated from Bemidji High School. She married Carl Elof Josefson of Debs on April 10, 1942. They lived on the Josefson farm in Debs, where they raised four children. She worked at the Red Lake Social Services Office from 1967 to 1984 as an intake social worker.
She became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Debs in 1942 and was the church organist and pianist for over 50 years, in addition to involvement in many other church activities. Music was a big part of her life and she taught piano to many children in the community. Following a move to Bemidji in 2000, she became an active member of First Lutheran Church, Bemidji.
She is survived by her daughter, Anne Josefson, and three sons, Carl (Jean), Paul (Jane), and Don (Nikki) Josefson.; a sister, Jane Loeffler of Moorhead, MN; ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Elof Josefson, grandson, Nathan Manning and three brothers and four sisters.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Foundation Fighting Blindness.
