Thomas Langan, 69, of Bemidji, MN died Friday, September 06, 2013, at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 12, 2013, at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Thomas Patrick Langan was born December 8, 1943, in Park Rapids, MN, to Donald and Nina (Benham) Langan. He graduated from Park Rapids High School. He married Jeanne (Hagenson) Langan on April 20, 1962; they had four children Kimberly (David) Stork, David (Zyvonne) Langan, Jonathan (Cindy Hample) Langan, Melissa (Randy) Starke. While he was attending the University of Northern Iowa, he worked at Viking Pump as a draftsman. He received his bachelors degree in Industrial Arts from UNI in 1969. Moved to Astoria, Oregon where he taught drafting at Clatsop Community College from 1969-1972. Tom taught drafting at the Bemidji Area Vocational-Technical Institute beginning in 1972. He married Jan (Hamerlik) Langan in 1976 in Bemidji. They had two children Nicoel (Michael Lindaman) Langan and Heidi (Christopher) Christiansen. He was the Director of Adult Education and the Trade and Industrial Coordinator at Bemidji Technical College, and received his Masters Degree from Bemidji State University in 1994. He finished his career teaching Industrial Arts at the Bemidji Middle School. He was an Exalted Ruler of the Elks, ham radio operator, Bemidji Citizens Patrol volunteer and curled at the Bemidji Curling Club.
He is survived by his wife Jan, his children, mother Nina Langan, twin brother, Donald (Jo), sisters: Suzanne (Duane) Grage, Pamela Langan, and Shannon (Paul) Hinz; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Langan.
