Thief River Falls man dies after 2-vehicle collision near Lancaster

LANCASTER, Minn. - A Thief River Falls man has died after the Minnesota State Patrol said he ran a stop sign and struck a van just before 2:45 p.m. Thursday.

Larry Rahn, 66, was ejected from his Chevrolet van after he struck another van at the intersection of 360th St. and Highway 59 about four miles north of Lancaster.

In the other van were Twyla Caudill, 62, and Randal Caudill, 63, of Warren, Manitoba. They were northbound on Highway 59 when they were broadsided by Rahn.

Both vehicles went into the east ditch. Both Twyla and Randal Caudill were wearing seat belts and were taken to Kittson County Memorial Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Rahn was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from his vehicle. He was initially taken to Kittson County Memorial, but was then life-flighted to Sanford Hospital in Fargo where he died.

Airbags on both of the vehicles deployed and both were totaled.
