The Chippewa National Forest has announced a temporary road closure and temporary campground/boat ramp closure scheduled to begin Sept. 27. These closures are part of 11 Recovery Act projects to remove small culverts or impoundment structures and replace with larger culverts to improve aquatic organism passage.
The schedule of events includes:
*Survey work will begin on the Eagle Nest Road (#2198) on September 20.
*Eagle Nest Road will be closed just before the South Deer Lake Boat Access location (approximately 3.7 miles in from Hwy 46) from September 27 through September 30 for a culvert replacement. The campground and boat ramp will not be accessible during this time.
*Eagle Nest Road will be closed at the Dry Creek culvert location (approximately 2.2 miles in from Hwy 46) from October 1 through October 13 for bridge construction.
*Eagle Nest Road will be closed at the Simpson Creek bridge location (approximately 1.0 mile in from Hwy 46) from October 25 through November 12 for bridge replacement.
Please use caution in work areas. A detour route will be signed during the road closures for the bridges. Roads will be signed as work reaches each site. Two Cut Foot area campgrounds will remain open during the fall hunting season, including East Seelye and Mosomo Point (open until Nov. 22). South Deer Lake campground closes on Sept. 27.
