MAPLEWOOD, Minn. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the stabbing death of a 16-year-old North St. Paul girl who was found dead in a Maplewood park.
Maplewood Police Chief Dave Kvam says Anna Lynn Hurd died from several stab wounds. She was found about 4:30 a.m. Saturday in Hillside Park, a few blocks from home.
Police are providing few details, but Kvam says they don't believe there's a danger to the general public.
Hurd's father, Patrick Hurd, tells the Star Tribune his daughter was a popular, fun-loving girl who liked hanging out with her friends and watching music videos. He says she was expelled from North High School in January after fighting with another girl and accidentally hitting a teacher, but planned to return next fall.
School officials plan to have counselors on hand Monday.
