Teen arrested in Clearwater County, suspected of committing burglaries in six Minnesota counties
Beltrami and Clearwater counties' deputies have arrested a teenager suspected of committing burglaries in six Minnesota counties.
The boy, who is a teenager and has not been identified, was arrested Tuesday west of Puposky after a citizen spotted him driving a pickup truck with an all-terrain vehicle loaded in the truck bed, according to a press release from the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office.
According to the press release:
The suspected burglar was confronted by a citizen Monday at an unoccupied residence in Puposky. The citizen was alerted to the suspect's presence when he had been seen at a different residence by a neighbor. The suspect was driving a large ATV and dressed in riding gear, including a helmet and a face mask.
The neighbor confronted the suspect and a scuffle occurred.
Deputies, investigators and the Minnesota State Patrol searched unsuccessfully for the suspect and ATV.
Meanwhile, it was learned that the method of burglary was similarly used in burglaries throughout other northwest Minnesota counties. Law enforcement agencies began to pool their information.
Tuesday morning, the suspect was arrested in Clearwater County after a citizen in the Puposky area notified law enforcement of the suspect.
The case is being investigated by sheriff's offices in Beltrami, Red Lake, Pole, Clearwater, Pennington and Mahnomen counties.
The suspect remains in Clearwater County Jail awaiting charges.
