Suspects arrested after threatening canoeists with firearm
Two adults from East Bethel, Minn., were arrested Saturday evening after reportedly threatening several canoeists with a firearm while the party was canoeing down Darrigan's Creek in Hagali Township.
According to a press release from the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office:
While visiting their property Saturday afternoon in Beltrami County, 11 people were canoeing down Darrigan's Creek when they were confronted by a couple who accused the canoeists of trespassing.
The canoeists argued that Darrigan's Creek was a public waterway.
One of the suspects brandished a pistol, pointed it at the party and threatened to shoot them.
The suspect then fired a round into the ground and continued to point the pistol at the party.
Without further incident, the suspects were later taken into custody by members of the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office, assisted by members from the Headwaters SWAT and members of the Minnesota State Patrol and Border Patrol.
The suspects have not been named as they have not yet been charged.
