Wadena County sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a 57-year-old woman being robbed as she was leaving her home to go to work about 9:43 p.m., the sheriff's office said. The woman said the male suspect jumped out from behind a bush and put a knife to her throat, ordering her to the ground.

The suspect then demanded her purse, wallet and keys. After she gave them to him, the victim was led to a nearby outbuilding where she was again ordered to the ground and told to stay there or she would be killed, Sheriff Mike Carr said Tuesday.

The suspect fled on foot to a nearby wooded area with the purse and cash, Carr said. A Wadena County K-9 unit picked up the search there, and tracked a scent for several miles until the trail ended abruptly. Carr said a vehicle was seen leaving the area around the time of the crime. The make or model of the vehicle is unknown, Carr said.

The victim was not able to identify the suspect but stated he possibly had a medium build, was 5 feet 5 inches tall and wearing a mask.

A cash reward is being offered for anyone with leading to the arrest and conviction of this suspect(s). Anyone with information can report it to the Wadena County Sheriff's Office at (218) 631-7600.
