Suicide Prevention Week planned at BSU

BEMIDJI – Suicide Prevention Week at Bemidji State University began Monday. A series of activities will be held through the week in order to raise awareness of mental illness.

“A Conversation and Cookies with Connie: Helping a Friend” will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today in Hobson Memorial Union’s Scandinavian Room as part of the week’s activities.

Suicide prevention gatekeeper training will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the American Indian Resource Center. The course will give an overview of various gatekeeper programs and how they can be used to recognize and respond to suicide warning signs.

Comedian Adam Grabowski will perform later that evening at 9 p.m. in Hagg-Sauer 100. For more information on activities this week and on suicide prevention, call 755-2080.
