Sydni Sugar, a third-grader at Horace May Elementary School, makes the final cut Thursday in shaving the head of her father, Ron Sugar, a special education teacher at Horace May. Helping make the cut is Brenda Bitker, a stylist and Horace May parent. This school year, students at Horace May have been focusing on estimation in math. In one activity, each class estimated how long Ron Sugar's hair would be by May 1. Doris Vleck's first-grade class won by estimating 10.5 centimeters. The actual length was 12 centimeters.
