Hovet chosen for scholarship

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Jade Hovet of Bemidji has been selected to participate in the 2014 Interns in Industry internship and scholarship program. Hovet is pursuing a degree in chemistry from Augustana College in Sioux Falls. She has been been a quality control intern at POET's corporate offices in Sioux Falls.

Local students honored at Itasca CC

GRAND RAPIDS -- Bart Johnson, Dean of Academic Affairs at Itasca Community College, has named 311 students to the spring semester dean's list. Students qualified for his honor by completing a minimum of 12 credits and attaining a grade point average between 3.25 and 4.0. The following local students were named to the list: Wesley Mason of Bemidji and Amanda Schreyer of Bemidji.

BSU student awarded scholarship

BLOOMINGTON -- The SFM Foundation recently awarded college scholarships to 16 students whose parents were killed or seriously injured in workplace accidents at Minnesota or Wisconsin employers. The SFM Foundation provides post-secondary scholarships of up to $5,000 per year. This year, the foundation's commitment to scholarships totaled $204,000. Students are selected based on financial need and academic merit, among other criteria. This year's new scholarship recipients include Carley Ahern, of Bemidji, who is attending BSU for nursing.

Shindelar named to list at Waynesburg University

WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- Rebecca A. Shindelar of Bemidji has been named to the dean's list at Waynesburg University for the spring term. Shindelar is pursuing a bachelor's of arts degree in human services.

Local students named at Bethel University

SAINT PAUL -- The following students have been named to the dean's list for academic excellence for the spring semester at Bethel University: Micah Eriksson, a senior, son of Peter and KaySue Eriksson from Bemidji and Leanne Oakes, sophomore, daughter of William and Laurie Oakes from Bemidji. The dean's list honors students who achieve an outstanding scholastic record during a semester with a grade point average of 3.6 or greater.
