BEMIDJI – Erin Booth, a senior in Bemidji High School, recently was one of four honored as a recipient of a $1,000 scholarship from the Minnesota Association of Townships at its annual meeting held Nov. 15-17 in St. Cloud.
Erin is the daughter of Steve and Kristi Booth, who live in Hubbard County’s Schoolcraft Township.
The scholarship program is open to all juniors attending a Minnesota public, private, or parochial high school or a home study program. To apply for this year’s award, applicants had to write a 500-word essay answering the question: “How do townships encourage youth to be more involved in township government and how could schools assist in that process?”
The 2013 question will be released to schools this month and applications will also be available on the MAT website, www.mntownships.org.
Erin is involved in soccer, hockey, orchestra, playing guitar, National Honor Society and Link Leader. She plans to study pre-med and become a primary care physician.
