Local residents graduate from Macalester College

BEMIDJI -- Cove Fylpaa, the son of Carol and John Fylpaa of Bemidji, recently graduated from Macalester College. Fylpaa received a liberal arts degree in Geology and Art (Studio). Fylpaais a graduate of Bemidji High School. Erika Weimann, the daughter of Dennis and Rita Weimann Jr. of Bemidji, also recently graduated from Macalester College. Weimann received a liberal arts degree in Biology. Weimann is a graduate of Bemidji High School.

Nordquist graduates from U.S. Air Force Academy

BEMIDJI -- Suzann G. Nordquist has graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo. The graduate received a bachelor's degree and was commissioned as a second lieutenant. Senior cadets have the opportunity to serve as academy cadet officers who provide leadership, motivation and direction for the cadet wing and demonstrate effective officership in support of unit mission objectives. Nordquist is the daughter of Charles and Gretchen Nordquist of Bemidji. She is a 2009 graduate of Bemidji High School.

Sweeney Smith earns honor at UW-Madison

BEMIDJI -- The University of Wisconsin-Madison has recognized students named to the dean's list for the spring semester. Students who achieve at a high level academically are recognized by the dean at the close of each semester. To be eligible for the dean's list, students must complete a minimum of 12 graded degree credits in that semester. August Sweeney Smith of Bemidji in the College of Engineering was named to the dean's honor list.

Overman graduates from Minnesota State College-Southeast Technical

BEMIDJI -- Minnesota State College-Southeast Technical recently announced the list of 2014 graduates. William Overman of Northome attended the Red Wing campus and received a diploma in the guitar repair and building program.

Paris graduates from Iowa State University

BEMIDJI -- At Iowa State University's spring commencement ceremonies, 4,021 students received degrees. Danielle Paris of Bemidji graduated with a master's degree in education.

Minnesota State Community and Technical College president's list

BEMIDJI -- Minnesota State Community and Technical College has named 783 students to its president's list for the spring semester. To earn the award, a student must complete 12 or more college-level credits for the semester with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Mykleseth named to Saint Mary's dean's list

BEMIDJI -- Daniel Mykleseth, of Bemidji, has been named to dean's list for second semester at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. Mykleseth is the son of Keith and Gina Mykleseth.

Nevis on dean's list at Concordia University

NEVIS -- Riley Hanson of Nevis has been named to the Concordia University, St. Paul's dean's list for the spring semester. Hanson is a sophomore majoring in biology.

Students with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher are recognized for superior academic performance by being named to the dean's list.
