Gilbertson graduated from SD State
During her four years at South Dakota State University she competed on the SDSU swim team. In her junior year she was an All Summit League Swimmer and was part of the school record setting 4x100 relay.
Graefe named to dean’s list at St. Olaf College
NORTHFIELD — Carl Graefe of Bemidji has been to the St. Olaf College dean’s list for the spring semester. Graefe is a political science and economics major. He is a graduate of Bemidji High School and the son of Martin Graefe and Lisa Christensen Graefe. The dean’s list recognizes students with a semester grade point average of 3.75 or higher on a 4-point scale.
Local students honored for achievement
STEVENS POINT, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point honored more than 2,500 undergraduate students for attaining high grade point averages during the spring semester. Full-time undergraduates who earned grade points of 3.90 to 4.0 are given the highest honors designation. High honor citations go to those with grade point averages from 3.75 to 3.89 and honor recognition is accorded to those with grade point averages from 3.50 to 3.74.Students who received honors include: Sarah M Etter of Blackduck who received high honors and Shannon M. McNamara of Solway who received honors.
Eckdahl won second place in writing contest
BLACKDUCK — Shelly Eckdahl, of Blackduck, won second place in the sixth through eighth grade level category for the Minnesota Charter School Writing Contest. Eckdahl is an eighth grader at MTS Minnesota Connections Academy. She had the opportunity to read her essay on the steps of the State Capital along with the other winners. Students were asked to write a 250 word essay about their best day in school. Eckdahl wrote about her community service and volunteer work, along with earning the opportunity to go to WE Day with her school. There were 2,600 entries for the writing contest. MTS Minnesota Connections Academy is a virtual K-12 public school program that students across the state attend from home.

St. Scholastica hosts spring commencement
DULUTH — Local students recently graduated from The College of St. Scholastica in a commencement ceremony at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center. Angela M. Haas of Nevis graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in elementary education.
Kari L. Josefson of Bemidji graduated with a Doctor of Nursing Practice in APRN FNP primary care. Adam Hellquist of Bemidji graduated with a Master of Arts in IT leadership. Aryn Ball of Bemidji graduated with a Master of Science in athletic training.
Kuechenmeister graduates from college
MENOMONIE WIS — Joshua Kuechenmeister of Bemidji recently participated in commencement ceremonies at University of Wisconsin-Stout. Kuechenmeister received a Bachelor of Science in manufacturing engineering.
