Stuart Wesley Wright, 82, of Bemidji, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nev.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church in Bemidji with Rev. Jim Darchuk officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Bemidji.

The pallbearers will be Ron Cole, Wesley Wright, Jon "Buddy" Langhout, Doug Smart, Dean Schnell, Tom Smith, Bob Aylesworth and Larry Dukek.

Honorary pallbearers will be the coffee groups from Bemidji Eagles Club and Simonson Market.

He was born July 17, 1926, to Roy and Lily (Grothe) Wright in Bemidji. He grew up in Northern Township. He attended school in Northern Township and the Bemidji High School. He served in the U.S. Army from Nov. 13, 1944, until Nov. 9, 1946. He spent time in the Philippines, receiving the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Army of Occupational Medal Japan. After his discharge he moved to Hibbing, Minn., where he worked in the underground mines. He came to Bemidji to work with his father and later owned and operated the Spur gas station. He then formed Stuarts Inc., a heavy equipment dealership in Bemidji, which he owned and operated until 2004, and he was also part-owner of Barko Hydraulics in Duluth. On Nov. 3, 1973, he married Lucille Klasen in Las Vegas. They enjoyed spending their summers in Bemidji and winters in Apache Junction, Ariz. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, was active with Fishing Has No Boundaries and enjoyed playing cards and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Wright of Bemidji; sons, Jim (Skip) Wright of Las Vegas and Bob (Diana) Rowles of East Bethel, Minn.; daughter, June Cole of Stacy, Minn.; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and sister, Joyce Wright of Moorhead, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Daniel and Gary Wright; brothers, Gordon and Dale Wright and a granddaughter.
