After several heavy showers over the weekend it looked like the weatherman was going to cooperate and allow the races to run as scheduled at Bemidji Speedway Sunday night.
Track officials, drivers, crew members and anyone with four wheels were on the track trying to get it in shape to handle a night of racing.
The effort wasn't successful, however, as the heavy rain returned and wiped out what looked to be a great night of action.
Racing will resume next Sunday at 5 p.m. with Wissota Streets, Mod Fours, Midwest Mods, Super Stocks, Pures, Hornets and Minis. A fan favorite, the box car races, will also be run next Sunday. Kids are encouraged to create a race car out of cardboard boxes and bring them to the track. All youngsters will have the opportunity to race their cardboard cars.
