Storm, less severe than expected, still expected to bring snow to Bemidji area

The Bemidji area remains in a winter weather advisory until 6 p.m. as a storm continues to cause problems throughout the state.

The weather service said snow totals won't be as much as previously expected, but some areas could still receive 6 to 8 inches, with a sharp difference between the northern and southern stretches of the affected area.

Snow and winds are expected to still impact travel, but conditions will gradually improve by afternoon.

Here's a look at the forecast for the Bemidji area:

Today: Snow. High near 31. Northeast wind between 9 and 18 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Tonight: A 30 percent chance of snow before midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 18. East northeast wind between 3 and 8 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Thursday: A 20 percent chance of snow after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 31. South southeast wind between 3 and 6 mph.

Thursday Night: A 40 percent chance of snow. Cloudy, with a low around 20. Southwest wind between 5 and 7 mph.

Friday: A 30 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 31. West northwest wind between 7 and 9 mph.

Friday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 16.

Saturday: A 20 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 25.

Saturday Night: A slight chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 11.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 25.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 12.

Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 35.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 23.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 38.
