Dale Norton carries Bemidji's final hopes into the last day of the state wrestling tournament today after dividing a pair of wrestlebacks Friday.
Corey Huber lost his first wrestleback to be eliminated from further action one match shy of placing once again.
Norton opened with an 8-2 win over Jamie Brazil, of Cooper. Taking a 4-1 lead in the second period on a reversal and takedown after Brazil executed an escape.
Brazil had another escape to open the third but Norton countered with a takedown and near fall for an 8-2 decision.
In his next match, however, he fell to Colton LaChance of Hastings 9-7.
Norton used a takedown and escape around a LaChance reversal to lead 3-2 after one.
But the Cooper matman had an escape and takedown n the second to go ahead 5-3 and added two takedowns around two Norton escapes and final takedown to preserve his 9-7 margin.
Norton will face Tyler Stevens of Elk River for fifth place today. Stevens defeated him in the first round 7-1 Wednesday.
Huber went against defending state champ Jordan Campa of SMA in his first wrestleback who scored a takedown and near fall to take a 5-0 first period lead.
He added an escape and takedown in the second while Huber gained a point for an illegal hold but trailed 8-1.
Huber had another escape in the third period but came no closer.
Both Bemidji wrestlers are 2-2 in the state meet.
