It was the first win in three starts for Moorhead and dropped Bemidji to 2-1. Bemidji travels to Detroit Lakes tomorrow to resume Lakes to Prairie Conference play.

Moorhead controlled Tuesday's game by far more than the final score would indicate, out shooting Bemidji 34-8 and holding a 16-6 lead in shots on goal.

But until the mid point of the second half, Bemidji had stayed in contention scoring twice to overcome 1-0 and 2-1 deficits and tie the score.

Nicole Ramos held Bemidji in the game with 12 stops, turning back several promising Moorhead shots.

The Spuds also did themselves in by missing the net on several, wide open shots.

Moorhead's quick defenders gave Bemidji fits all day, recovering to get back and stop potential breakaways by catching up with Bemidji's players..

Unfortunately what proved to be the winning goal was a misdirected kick that went off a Bemidji defender into the net.

That came at the 18:15 mark of the second half after Bemidji had tied the game for the second time five minutes earlier.

Moorhead out shot Bemidji badly from the start yet was scoreless until Jannessa Haasbeek got loose unmarked in the box behind the Bemidji defense to drive home the ball past Ramos.,

The 1-0 margin lasted six minutes when Bemidji executed a perfect 2 on 1 break with Erin Booth finding Bronwyn Boyd all alone in the box to drive in a 20 yarder past Callie Roseland.

The 1-1 tie lasted into the break with Moorhead holding a 14-4 shots bulge.

The Spuds went back ahead at the 44:29 mark when Ashley Heinze connected from 20 yards out on the left side at the end of a breakaway.

But Bemidji fought back again to tie as freshman Josey Spry converted an Andrea Hanson feed from deep on the right side, lifting the ball over Roseland's head.

But the misplayed goal at 19:15 proved the winner and Bijanca Clark made it certain taking a right to loft feed in the box to beat Ramos from 20 yards on the left side.

Roseland needed only four stops. Ramos had 14.

Moorhead had dropped its first two starts to Eagan and Anoka on a Twin Cities trip. Bemidji and Moorhead will meet again at Moorhead Sept. 22.
