Sports Authority to add Bemidji location
BEMIDJI – A national sporting goods chain has been named to move into an area of the Westridge Shopping Center.
The announcement for Sports Authority to come to the center was made Monday, according to John Meyers, president of Pace Development.
“We received notice on Monday that Sports Authority has been approved by the real estate committee,” Meyers said. “We will move forward with finalizing a lease and try to move them toward completion as soon as possible.”
The area slated for Sports Authority is the former Fashion Bug space.
“We will be actually expanding the Fashion Bug area to accommodate the size Sports Authority needs,” Meyers said.
There are still other businesses in talks to occupy areas of Westridge.
“We’re still moving forward with those deals and there are a couple of other tenants we are continuing to talk to that we hope, in the next 30-60 days, we’ll be able to announce a lease with one or two other small national tenants will join us at Westridge,” Meyers said.
The redevelopment plans for Westridge originally included a third city-operated liquor store, which was voted down by the city council during Monday night’s work session. Marketplace Foods is also planning renovations and a T.J. Maxx plans to move into the shopping center, located near the intersection of State Highway 197 and Interstate 71.
