South shore development to be discussed Wednesday

BEMIDJI – The city is moving closer to selling land northeast of the Sanford Center.
The Bemidji Economic Development Authority (BEDA) will host a special meeting at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday in the conference room at city hall to discuss terms of a negotiated purchase agreement for the land, city attorney Al Felix said.
That will be followed by a public hearing in April before the sale is finalized, city manager John Chattin said.
“The purchase agreement is a tentative terms of sale,” Felix said Tuesday.
Specific details of that purchase agreement were not available Tuesday.
The BEDA, the city council’s economic development alter-ego, met behind closed doors last week to discuss an offer from B&B Enterprises LLC. That entity plans on developing townhomes on the south shore land, which totals about 11.5 acres.
The developer plans on 30 units on the northern half of the property, Chattin said, with an option to purchase the south half of the land.
