Someone Special Volunteers for 07/27/2014
The Bemidji Pioneer, Paul Bunyan Broadcasting, Ken K. Thompson and the United Way recognize "Someone Special Volunteers" who have made significant contributions to the community.
Northwoods Habitat for Humanity has nominated Dan McColley and Barb Kemmer as
Someone Special Volunteers. McColley has been a very active volunteer with Habitat for Humanity ReStore for more than two years. Even though he is the manager at Real Stone in Bagley, a job that keeps him on the road constantly, McColley consistently comes on Saturday mornings to visit with customers and help them find what they are looking for. He fills in as cashier, goes on donation pick-ups, helps load customer's vehicles and cleans and processes donations as they come in. His dedication to Habitat's mission is genuine, and he always has a smile on his face. McColley is a volunteer who is truly someone special in the community.
Barb Kemmer has been an active volunteer with Northwoods Habitat for Humanity for the past three years. Last year, she was instrumental in organizing church members for the second annual "Faith Build" in Bemidji. She also serves at the ReStore's customer service counter as a cashier, always with a friendly greeting and a willingness to help the customers. Kemmer has been to nearly all the dedications and groundbreakings and is involved with Habitat's annual Gala; Wine, Women and Sweets fundraiser; and works very hard with faith relations and Women Build programs. Kemmer is a special volunteer who needs to be recognized for her dedication to Northwoods Habitat for Humanity in Bemidji.
