Platt was convicted by Beltrami District Court Judge John Melbye of the crime for a Nov. 10, 2012 incident involving the victim.

According to a criminal complaint filed by the Beltrami County Attorney’s Office, Platt made a threat with a filet knife after the victim “played a prank” by taping a bottle of alcohol shut.

The victim told police that Platt had previously taped soda bottles shut in a pranking manner.

When Platt discovered the tape on the bottle he became irate, pointed the knife at the victim and threatened to cut the victim.

Platt later denied drinking alcohol that day, and told police that he may have made the threat, “but didn’t mean it.”

Platt has previously been convicted of misdemeanor domestic assault in 2006 and felony terroristic threats in 2002. He was also convicted of second degree criminal sexual conduct in 1988 and felony theft of a controlled substance in 1992.
