SOFTBALL: MSU Moorhead walks off to sweep doubleheader from BSU
ABERDEEN, S.D. — The BSU softball team once again lost a chance to win its first conference game of the season.
In game one, the Dragons chased BSU starter Jessica Yost after just five outs. Yost allowed six runs (four earned) and six hits in the abbreviated start.
Dragon starter Morgan Nybo silenced BSU’s bats, allowing just three hits in five innings. Nicole Dupay, Alayna Krejci and Emily Varner collected BSU’s hits.
In game two, BSU took a 3-1 lead in the sixth inning with run-producing hits from Dupay and Mikayla Osterman but the Dragons cut the deficit to one in the sixth.
In the seventh, Lauren Meeker led off the innign with a single off BSU pitcher Danielle Jecmen. Hannah Klug pinch ran for Meeker and came around to score following a sacrifice bunt and then a single up the middle by Kristina Villalobos.
Villalobos reached second on the throw home,
Carly Williamson then hit a single that turned out to be a walk-off single when Villalobos scored on a throwing error on Chelsey Watson.
Megan Boser led BSU at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles.
Allison Roberts, who came on in relief of Yost in Game 1, gave up just one run on three hits in Game 2. She earned a no decision.
The Beavers will close out the 2014 season this week with four doubleheaders.
BSU is set to host Minnesota-Crookston Tuesday and University of Mary Wednesday before hitting the road to Winona State Friday and Upper Iowa Saturday.
