After conceding a MSU Moorhead goal late in the first half, the Beavers answered just four minutes later to tie then added a second-half goal from Mary O’Brien to beat the Dragons 2-1 Saturday night. It was the fifth win in a row for BSU.

O’Brien broke the tie at the 68:01 mark in the second half. Freshman Hillary Arechigo dribbled by a defender, then passed the ball to Jess Voeller, who passed it across the six-yard box and O’Brien was able to knock it in for the eventual game-winning goal.

O’Brien now has a team-leading seven goals this season and two game-winners.

The Dragons struck in the first half. After they were awarded a corner kick, Isabel Neyman found the end of it and drove one past sophomore goalkeeper Sonja Barr at the 37:58 mark.

But the Beavers responded less than 10 minutes later with a goal of its own off a corner kick.

Freshman Abigail Nyquist sent in the kick, and after a Moorhead defender tried to clear it, the ball found Arechigo, who shot one into the right side of the net.

Bemidji State was outshot in the game 25-11 but notched eight on goal.

Barr matched a season-high, posting nine saves in the victory. She improves to 6-0-1 on the season.

The Beavers will look for their sixth straight victory today when they take on Northern State at 1 p.m.
