Snow is falling in the Bemidji area today, but it's nothing like what parts of the region are suffering through. The National Weather Service says some areas of southeast North Dakota and west-central Minnesota south of Interstate 94 will get up to eight inches of new snow today.

There was a no-travel advisory issued this morning for the south-central portion of North Dakota. And plows were pulled later this morning on southeast North Dakota roads, including Interstate 94, where no travel is advised most of the roads south of the interstate from southwest of Mandan all the way east to the Red River.

Roads in northeast North Dakota and northwest Minnesota were covered with snow or had scattered snow, snow drifts and some icy or otherwise slippery conditions this morning.

Snow is likely with areas of blowing snow before 3 p.m., then areas of blowing snow and a chance of snow after 3. The forecast calls for wind chill values as low as 17 below zero, with gusts as high as 23 mph today. The total snowfall in the Bemidji area is expected to be 2 to 4 inches.

Today: Snow likely and areas of blowing snow before 3pm, then areas of blowing snow and a chance of snow after 3pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 5. Wind chill values as low as -17. North wind between 14 and 17 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Tonight: Areas of blowing snow before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around -17. Wind chill values as low as -34. North northeast wind between 9 and 17 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 6. Wind chill values as low as -33. Northeast wind between 3 and 7 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around -9. Wind chill values as low as -22. Northeast wind at 7 mph becoming south southwest.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 13. South southwest wind around 8 mph becoming north northwest.
