Slumberland store gives beds to needy
For the 11th consecutive year, Slumberland Furniture of Bemidji has donated 10 beds to needy children during the holiday season.
It is part of Slumberland's Making Homes for the Holidays program, which provided more than 1,700 mattress and box spring sets to needy families and agencies in its 10-state region.
The Bemidji store has now delivered 110 beds to agencies and individual families over the past 11 years.
"We design our local program to serve children," said John Reff, manager of Slumberland in Bemidji.
Ken Larson, owner of the 119-store company, added, "For far too many families, a warm bed has become a luxury, especially in today's tough economic environment. With Making Homes for the Holidays, Slumberland is working to ensure that everyone in our communities gets a health night's sleep."
