Sister strikes brother with vehicle in Hubbard County

A 16-year-old girl accidentally struck her 12-year-old brother near their residence in Hubbard County Saturday morning.

According to a press release from the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office:

The girl was driving a 1999 Subaru Forester toward her home on County Road 33 in White Oak Township, about 3 miles south of Akeley.

When she pulled into the driveway, the boy ran out in front of the vehicle. The girl tried to stop, but struck the boy, causing possible internal injuries and severe burns to his arm and leg. The accident was reported at 10:05 a.m.

The boy was airlifted to Innovis Hospital in Fargo, N.D., and then transferred to the burn center in Minneapolis. The boy continues to recover.

Their identities have not been released.

Driver impairment has been ruled out and no foul play is suspected.

Assisting at the scene were the Minnesota State Patrol, Nevis First Responders, north Ambulance and North Memorial Air Care.
