Sister Ruth Nistler celebrates 60 years of service

Sister Ruth Ann Nistler, daughter of the late George and Anna Nistler, formerly of Shooks, will celebrate 60 years as a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls Aug. 21. A Mass of Thanksgiving will be celebrated at St. Francis Convent in Little Falls. Sister Ruth Ann entered the novitiate at St. Francis Convent July 31, 1951. She made her first profession of vows Aug. 12, 1953 and final profession of vows Aug. 12, 1956.

She has ministered as an elementary teacher, St. Joseph School in Waite Park, Holy Spirit School in St. Cloud, St. Agnes School in Osakis and catechist/missionary in Yunguyo, Peru and Maracay, Venezuela, South America.

She was a library assistant and receptionist, St. Francis Convent in Little Falls, director of religious education, St. Edward Parish in Princeton and Beaumont Diocese in Diboll, TX; music and liturgy coordinator, St. Francis Convent in Little Falls, pastoral associate, Holy Family Mission in Huntingdon, TN and a coordinator and volunteer of Hispanic Ministry, Jackson Deanery in Huntingdon, TN.

She is presently retired at St. Francis Convent in Little Falls. Sister Ruth Ann was born in St. Cloud.
