Sheriff’s office seeks stabbing suspect
BEMIDJI – An 18-year-old Bovey, Minn., man was stabbed at a party early Sunday in Beltrami County and law enforcement is asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect and two persons of interest.
According to the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were dispatched at 12:46 a.m. Sunday to intercept a vehicle that was taking Jace Jeffry Ugrich to Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.
Deputies met the vehicle and rendered aid until Bemidji Ambulance arrived on the scene and transported Ugrich to the hospital. During their investigation, deputies learned that Ugrich had been stabbed while trying to break up a brawl between two other males at a large party at a property on Hensel Drive Northeast, about five miles east of Bemidji. The property is owned by the Theta Tau Epsilon Fraternity Alumni Corp.
According to a release, Ugrich was attempting to intervene in the brawl when an unknown suspect stabbed him in the back. Ugrich is listed in satisfactory condition at Sanford Bemidji, according to Beltrami County officials.
The sheriff’s office is requesting the public’s help to identify the assailant. Also, investigators are seeking to interview two persons of interest: a white male, 5-11 to 6-1 in height with a skinny build, wearing a dark sweatshirt and a black baseball cap on backward with the word “Dope” in a light color on the front; and a white male approximately 5-11 to 6-1 in height with light colored hair wearing a red hoodie sweatshirt.
