Sexual violence programs merge
BEMIDJI — The Sexual Assault Program of Beltrami, Cass, Hubbard and Clearwater counties recently merged with the Support Within Reach program, which served Aitkin and Itasca counties.
The two organizations began discussing the possibility of a merger when the Sexual Assault Program was searching for an executive director and Amanda Ysen, a former Support Within Reach executive director, took over as interim executive director. T
The organization’s new name is Support Within Reach and the mission will be to reduce the impact and harm of sexual violence for individuals and families in the communities that it serves. Ysen will continue to be serve as the administrator of the newly merged organization.Support Within Reach will be divided into two districts, with a headquarters located in each district. The organization’s primary headquarters in District 1 will be located in Bemidji, covering Beltrami, Cass, Clearwater and Hubbard counties. It will also cover portions of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, Red Lake Nation and White Earth Nation tribal communities.District 2 will have general headquarters in Grand Rapids and include Aitkin and Itasca counties, as well as portions of the Bois Forte Band of Ojibwe, Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe and Mille Lacs Lake Band of Ojibwe tribal communities.For more information, call (800) 708-2727 in District 1 or (866) 747-5008 in District 2.
