Daniel Paul Tomann, 46, is set to be released from prison April 19, at which time he plans to reside on the 400 block of Fifth Street in Pine River.

He plans to move May 1 to the 1100 block of North River Road in Backus.

A community notification meeting has been scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 12, at Pine River-Backus High School. Law enforcement and Minnesota Department of Corrections staff will attend the meeting, discuss Tomann's status and answer questions.

Tomann, according to a fact sheet released by the Cass County Sheriff's Office, has a history of sexual contact with females ages 12-15.

According to the fact sheet:

Tomann is no longer wanted by police and that he has served the sentence that has been imposed upon him. Neither the Cass County Sheriff's Office nor the Department of Corrections can dictate where the offender does or does not live or where he works or goes to school.

The Community Notification Act, which went into effect on Jan. 1, 1997, makes it possible for local law enforcement agencies to release some information to the public regarding sexual and predatory offenders that was formerly classified as private data.

Abuse of this information to threaten, harass or intimidate the registered offender may be charged as a crime.
