The Defense Department said Army Reserve Sgt. 1st Class John Tobiason of Hayfield was wounded in an incident that remains under investigation.

His sister, Nancy Mitchell of Mantorville, said all that is known so far is that he had stepped outside a tent in Baghdad and that shots were fired.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church of St. Bonaventure in Bloomington. Another memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Church of the Holy Family in Kasson.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Gill Brothers Funeral Chapel in Bloomington, and one hour before each of the services at the churches.
