Service learning alive and well in the Bemidji area

For the second year in a row, teachers and staff members from Schoolcraft Learning Community and Trek North High School spent time working on a number of service projects for some of our local non-profits.

We divided ourselves into groups and this year we painted the kitchen at the Boys and Girls Club, washed furniture that will be used at the new Ours to Serve House of Hospitality, hand dug potatoes that were donated to the Bemidji Food Shelf and cleared trails at the Movil Maze.

We also spent time helping Voyaguers High School move into their new building. Service learning is at the heart of both our schools. We believe in supporting a community that supports us. What a wonderful opportunity it would be if all our area schools teamed up for an event like this. It's a great way to start a school year!
