Sertich to head IRRRB
ST. PAUL -- Rep. Tony Sertich, DFL-Chisholm, is the new leader of the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board.
Gov. Mark Dayton made the announcement Tuesday morning.
Sertich resigns from the Minnesota House on Thursday. He began his sixth term a week ago Wednesday.
"I have great confidence that Rep. Sertich will ... provide the strong leadership that the agency needs to fulfill its important mission to the people on the Iron Range," Dayton said. "He will have my full support and active involvement in searching for every possible new business and new job for the Range."
For the past four years, Sertich was House majority leader.
"Both Gov. Dayton and I are dedicated to seeing the Iron Range continue to adapt and evolve economically as we move deeper into the 21st century," Sertich said. "As a fourth generation Ranger, there is nothing more important to me than seeing my home region's economy strengthened, and that it provide more opportunities now and for future generations."
The IRRRB works on economic development projects in northeastern Minnesota.
