The Bemidji Blue Ox baseball season came to an end Saturday when they fell in both ends of a double header at Warroad.

The sweep advanced the Muskies to the state Class C tournament. This weekend they will face the Ada-Crookston winner in a best of three series to determine the first and second region seeds.

Bemidji wasted two outstanding mound efforts by lack of hitting.

Warroad took the opener 1-0 and scored twice in the last of the sixth to take the nightcap 2-1.

Bemidji had lost three of four regular season games to the Muskies.

The opener matched Matt Fossen against Warroad's Kyle Nowacki. Fossen allowed only two hits, fanning one and walking two.

Nowacki gave up three hits with eight strikeouts and three walks.

The lone run came in the last of the sixth when Bryan Demolee opened with a double, took third on a ground out and scored on a sacrifice fly. Demolee was the only Warroad player to advance past second base. Only two others got that far.

The Ox seldom threatened. Colton Smith doubled with two outs in the first. Jesse Jacobson doubled to open the fifth but was picked off second..

Second game

Bemidji led Game 2 into the last of the sixth when the Muskies bunched three of their six hits for two runs to win .

Bemidji scored in the first when Joel Conway singled, Smith was hit by a pitch and Bryan Jamieson singled. They might have scored more but had a runner picked off base.

They never threatened seriously again as Anderson completed a four hitter, fanning four and walking three.

Nick Lee doubled with two gone in the second and Smith singled with two outs in the fifth. No runner advanced past second.

Jamieson was even tougher through five.

Culleton had a two-out single in the first and he and Anderson singled in the fourth.

But with one gone in the sixth, a walk and three bloop singles sent home the tying and winning runs.

Luke Burns opened the seventh with a walk but two force plays followed before Anderson recorded the final out.

The outcome closed the fourth season of play for the Class C team with a 9-11 record.
