Sheriff's officials say the 3-year-old girl wandered away from her home in Danbury about 7 p.m. Tuesday. Danbury is about 60 miles south of Duluth, Minn.

Burnett County spokeswoman Dawn Sargent says authorities searched by air and on the ground until about 3 a.m. and resumed the search at daylight Wednesday. Helicopters from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Minnesota State Patrol have been used in the search.

Sargent says authorities are asking for volunteers to report to the Danbury ballpark Wednesday morning where they will get directions on where to search. She says about 70 volunteers helped Tuesday night.

The DNR is searching the St. Croix River and Danbury dam, which is 2 to 3 miles from the girl's home.
