TENSTRIKE – The search Wednesday for a 19-year-old missing man was cancelled due to dangerous weather.
A large scale search for Darren Chock began after authorities received a call from him at 1:41 p.m. Tuesday. Chock reported he was emotionally distressed, prompting a search in a wooded area near Tenstrike, about 17 miles north of Bemidji, according to a missing person report by the Minnesota Crime Alert Network.
The search was suspended at 9 p.m. Tuesday and resumed Wednesday morning until weather forced cancellation of effort.
“Cell phone battery is dead so we are unable to get any other details of his location,” the alert said.
If the public knows of Chock’s location, they are asked to call the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office at 333-9111, (888) 449-9111 or 911.
The public is asked not to approach him. Chock does not have a vehicle but may be armed, according to the alert.
Chock is described as a white male, standing 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing 165 pounds. He blond hair, green eyes and was last seen to be wearing flip flops.
