Scott D. Papasodora, 50, of Minneapolis, formerly of Cass Lake, died Monday, April 6, 2009, in Minneapolis.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 2424 18th Ave. S., Minneapolis. A visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Billman-Hunt Funeral Chapel, 2701 Central Ave. S., Minneapolis, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be a memorial at the 2009 UMGG Boxing Tournament with the "silent ten-count." Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery.

He was born Jan. 11, 1959, to Samuel and Evelyn Papasodora in Minneapolis. He enjoyed the sport of boxing. He started boxing at the age of 10, in Minneapolis. He went on to win several city of Minneapolis Golden Glove titles, National Indian Boxing titles representing the Leech Lake Boxing Club, eventually winning the Upper Midwest Golden Gloves title. He boxed professionally for several years, with the highlight of his boxing career being on Sept. 18, 1990, when he defeated three-time World Champion Wilfred Benitez in Canada.

He is survived by his significant other, Corie; daughters, Tara, Camille and Teresa; a granddaughter; a grandson; mother, Evelyn; and siblings, Samuel "Rocky" (Louann) Papasodora, Carmen (Wesley) Dorr, Frank Papasodora, Rhonda (Javier) Papasodora, Mark Papasodora and Betty Jo Papasodora.

He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel and a nephew.
