Scholarships available

The following scholarship applications are available in the high school office:

Wendy's High School Heisman: All Student-Athletes who work hard, are dedicated, and have become role models for your school's underclassmen. Online application is available at www.wendyheisman.com. The deadline is Oct. 1.

Prudential Spirit of Community Award: All students who volunteer in their communities. Apply online at http://spirit.prudential.com. Deadline is Nov. 2.

Coca-Cola Scholarships: Truly motivated, dedicated, and high school seniors. Apply online at www.coca-colascholars.org. Deadline is Oct. 31.

Sept. 23: Junior and seniors can attend a college fair at Bemidji State University

Oct. 14: PSAT test given to juniors and sophomores who are interested

Oct. 27: Junior and seniors can attend a career fair at Kelliher School at 8:30 a.m. and a representative from St. Scholastica will be in the student commons.

Oct. 28: 3:30 p.m., a representative from the University of Minnesota, Duluth will be in the student commons.

Oct. 29: 8:30 a.m., a representative from Itasca Community College will be in the student commons.

Sports Calendar

Sept. 21 - JV football at 5 p.m. in Cass Lake.

Sept. 22 - Junior high football at 4:30 p.m. in Fosston and 7 and 8, JV and varsity volleyball at 5:30 p.m. in Northome.

Sept. 24 - 7 and 8, JV and varsity volleyball at 5 p.m. at home against Walker.

Sept. 26 - Varsity football Homecoming at 7 p.m. against Walker.

Community Ed

Judo begins Sept. 22 at 5:30 p.m. in the high school wrestling room. The fee is $20 per individual and $45 per family.

Karate begins Sept. 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the elementary gym. The fee is $65.

Tumbling begins Sept. 22 at 4:30 p.m. in the high school wrestling room for ages 4 and up. The fee is $20.

Monday Reading and Math Program begins Sept. 28 for those in fourth-sixth grades from 8-11 a.m. in the elementary. The cost is $100.

Flag football begins Sept. 29 from 4:30-6 p.m. on the elementary athletic field. The cost is $26.

Week of Sept. 21-25

TUESDAY, Sept. 22 - Tater tot hotdish, green beans, dinner roll, grapes, milk.

WEDNESDAY, Sept. 23 - Chef salad with the works, cheese garlic french bread, yogurt, milk.

THURSDAY, Sept. 24 - Sloppy joes, baked beans, potato wedges, apple crisp, milk.

FRIDAY, Sept. 25 - Turkey noodle soup, crackers, cheese slice, egg salad or peanut butter and jelly sandwich, pineapple, milk.

Community Ed

Book study will begin Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. in the library. The group will get together once a month to discuss the books that were read.

Create Your Own Bead People Sept. 28 from 3:15-4:45 p.m. in the Kelliher School Commons. The fee is $6 which includes all supplies plus the storybook.

Scrapbooking will be Oct. 1 or Oct. 5 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The cost is $5 per person, supplies included but you must pre-register by Sept. 22 and indicate which class you would like to attend.

55 Alive eight-hour course is set for Oct. 6 and 8 from 5:30-9:30 p.m. in the high school library. The fee is $18 and you must be pre-registered by Sept. 28. Checks for $14 are to be made payable to AARP and the $4 registration fee is to be made out to Kelliher Community Ed.
