BEMIDJI — Low-income families are encouraged to apply for a scholarship to help young children improve their school readiness.
According to a press release from the Minnesota Department of Education, funds are available for students, ages 3 to 5, for children to be able to attend early-childhood programs that participate in the Parent Aware Quality Rating System, which includes Head Start, school-based pre-kindergarten and preschool and some child care programs.
The Minnesota Department of Education spread out the money based on need to the state’s 13 economic development regions. Beltrami, Clearwater and Mahnomen counties compose Region 2.
For Beltrami, Clearwater and Mahnomen counties, $1,513,976 for scholarships will be made available during the biennium, providing more than 370 children with access to early learning opportunities.
