BEMIDJI - Sanford Bemidji has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in stereotactic breast biopsy as the result of a review by the American College of Radiology.
The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety, according to a Sanford press release.
It is awarded to facilities that meet ACR practice guidelines and technical standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.
"This designation is an honor and reflects Sanford's ongoing commitment to excellence in breast health. This accreditation was our final hurdle towards being designated as a Breast Center of Excellence by the ACR," Dr. Matt Sanford, a radiologist, said in the release.
