Ruth Weddel, 81, of Bemidji, died Aug. 20, 2012 at her home in Bemidji.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 28 at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home in Bemidji. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Ruth was born May 22, 1931 in Mankato. She married Frederick R. Weddel on June 23, 1951. They moved to Bemidji in 1956, where Frederick began practicing law. She was active in the Mrs. Jaycees and was a Gray Lady at the Bemidji Hospital for several years.
She loved spending time at Grant Lake and watching nature, especially the eagles. Ruth cherished her friends, “The Pigs” and “Friday Lunch Bunch”. She recently completed a dream trip across Canada by rail.
Ruth is survived by her four children, Barbara Clarine of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Sherrill Holmes of Red Wing, David Weddel of Zimmerman and Wendy Skrutvold of Tuscon, Ariz.; 15 grandkids, 21 great-grandkids; and a sister, Joan West.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Frederick R. Weddel; parents, Willard and Alta (Cooper) Doerr; and a beloved dog, Tippy.
Body disposition was by cremation. Memorials can be made to the Humane Society.
