Russell Prady

Russell Prady, 72, of Detroit Lakes, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at his residence.

Russell Prady was born to Alex and Rose (Karol) Prady on Nov. 17, 1936 in Caribou Township, rural Lancaster, Minn. In 1944, the family moved to Crookston, where Russ grew up and attended school, graduating from Central High School in 1955.

On Dec. 7, 1957 Russ married Marsha M. Hauglid in Webster, S.D. They made their home in Crookston until 1960, when they moved to Minneapolis. Russ attended Dunwoody Technical Institute for five years, and worked in the sheet metal trade for the next 40 years. Shortly after his retirement in 1999, he and Marsha moved to rural Detroit Lakes.

Russ loved time spent with family and friends. He was an avid deer hunter, who also liked to golf and oil paint.

Surviving Russ are his wife, Marsha; daughter, Kelly (Michael) Kendle of Isanti, Minn.; three sons, Gordon Prady of Ottertail, Kevin (Sheryl) Prady of Anderson, S.C., and Anthony Prady of Detroit Lakes; eight grandchildren; seven sisters, Susan (Kenneth) Swenson of Crookston, Mary (Don) Walior of Grand Forks, N.D., Doris (Kenneth) Hanson of Rosemount, Minn., Grace (Robert) Bergevin of Coon Rapids, Minn., Ruth (Howard) Walior, of River Falls, Wis., Irene Uselman of Apple Valley, Minn., and Rosemary (Dale) Rhode of Eagan, Minn.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother-in-law, Robert Uselman; and father-in-law, Lester Hauglid.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22 at West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, with Emmanuel Chaplain Vicki Marthaler officiating; there will be visitation at the funeral home for hour prior to the start of services. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.
