Rotary clubs to send people to Japan
The Bemidji Rotary clubs have chosen three Bemidji residents to take part in the Group Study Exchange Team traveling to Japan at the end of October.
The team leader for the exchange trip is Bemidji Rotary Club member Evonne McKinzie. Local GSE team members will include Rosie Berg, sponsored by Bemidji Sunrise Rotary, and Rebecca Hoffman, sponsored by Bemidji Rotary Club. Two other members from Duluth and Thunder Bay will join the team.
The team will embark on a monthlong visit centered in Nagoya, Japan, a city of more than two million people. The visit will consist of a study schedule throughout Japan Rotary District 2760.
The GSE team will meet with professional peers while in Japan and share occupational and cultural knowledge. Team members will stay in the homes of Japanese Rotarians who will also provide most of the meals.
The Group Study Exchange Program was established to foster international goodwill and understanding through an exchange that involves team members sharing information about their own country while experiencing the customs, vocations and lifestyle of another culture.
In the spring of 2010, a GSE Team from Japan Rotary District 2760 will tour US Rotary District 5580, which includes the two Bemidji Rotary Clubs.
